Description
Ammonium Sulphate (AMS) 980 is a high-purity spray-grade granule formulated to enhance glyphosate efficacy—especially in hard water or when tank-mixing with other herbicides. By binding to antagonistic salts (like calcium and magnesium), it allows glyphosate to be more readily absorbed by target weeds.
In areas with high-calcium water—common across many Australian grazing regions—glyphosate performance can be significantly reduced. Calcium and magnesium ions in hard water bind with glyphosate molecules, making them less effective at entering and killing target weeds. This can lead to poor weed control, wasted chemical, and the need for costly re-sprays. By adding Ammonium Sulphate 980 to the tank first, these ions are neutralised before they interfere with glyphosate, ensuring maximum herbicide uptake and consistent knockdown—especially important when managing stubborn pasture weeds
Benefits of Ammonium Sulphate (AMS) 980 in pasture systems.
- Boosts glyphosate uptake and translocation
- Prevents hard water tie-up
- Improves knockdown on tough pasture weeds
- Dissolves quickly, low-dust formulation
- Suitable for drone and small tank applications
