Practical: Peter Notman
Maximising your inputs with Peter’s practical insights and troubleshooting. New pasture technology and why it’s important for farmers. Drawing on his experience at Walcha Dairy, he’ll highlight effective strategies for boosting pasture growth too, especially during winter.
Next-Gen Unveiled
Be the first to learn about innovative ryegrass products we are bringing to Gippsland farmers. Cropmark Seeds NZ Forage Specialist Matt Deighton shares insights into their breeding, and the focus on exceptional insect tolerance, yield and persistence.
Already on-farm in Gippsland in a pre-release trial, Stampede CM142 perennial is making new waves for local farmers before their national debut this Autumn.
Launching a new Cropmark endophyte & grasses
New CM142 endophyte offers an innovative solution for premium ryegrass performance without compromising your budget. Cropmark Seeds know a thing or two, firmly establishing themselves as a leader in endophyte innovation, having developed the CM142 program in-house.
Local: Trials with farmer experience
Pat Bloye, former dairy farmer at Jindivick and now a Cropmark Seeds technical trials specialist, brings invaluable expertise in rigorously trialing varieties at Ellinbank in West Gippsland & two sites in Western Vic. He’ll share the latest trial results and observations.
Roundtable: Weeds & Pests
Adam Fisher and Jason Hibbs will join Peter Notman on timing of early control, managing challenging species like winter grass, field crickets, snails & slugs and how an inconsistent rainfall or a late autumn break can disrupt germination and establishment.
Left field: Wasps in summer crops?
We've experimented with Trichogramma in early January, using a parasitic wasp to control caterpillar pests through natural biological control. Some Gippsland & Western Vic growers already using them. We'll give a brief rundown on some of our latest maize strategies for driving productivity.
Hot Food | Drinks | Bar Open
From 6.30pm Hot Food will be available, and the Bar Open (on us!). For any dietary requirements please get in touch with our office on (03) 5659 2314.
Behind Walcha Dairy
For those farmers interested, stick around for slideshow from Peter on his and Elaine's Walcha Dairy. Peter will give a rundown on their pasture programme, milk supply, the challenges, highs and lows of dairying in a non-traditional area.
