Description
Warrego GT6 Grazing Tolerant Lucerne is an improved persistance with the upgraded replacement to Stamina GT6 Lucerne. Trialled and tested over multiple environments and conditions, Warrego GT6 (of the Stamina range), is a monumental step up in grazing tolerance and persistence compared to older dormancy 6 varieties. Bred to persist for prolonged periods of set stocking, Warrego GT6 provides growers with grazing flexibility, high quality hay, persistence similar to a dormancy 5 and winter activity of a 6.
Lucerne trial analysis 2012 – 2020 grazing tolerant trial Leigh Creek, VIC
- Warrego GT6 ground cover was 75% when measured after the first set stocking period in 2014 which is similar to other dormancy 5 varieties
- After another six month set stocking period in 2015, Warrego GT6 maintained a ground cover percentage of 75% whilst other dormancy 6 varieties continued to decline
- After 2 consecutive set stocking period in 2014/2015, Warrego GT6 had 60% more ground cover in comparison to Aurora
Winter active (6-7): Tend to have smaller crowns with an erect growth that provides some winter growth (providing suitable temperatures). Although a multi purpose stand that provides quality hay production and grazing opportunities, strict rotational grazing management is required as winter active (6-7) lucerne varieties are comparatively less tolerant to grazing than semi winter dormant (5) varieties.
