Description
Algae QAC Algaecide is a Quaternary Ammonium Compound (QAC) designed to control algae, cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) and mould in damp areas where moisture, poor drainage or shade create ongoing problems.
Containing 142.5g/L Quaternary Ammonium Compound, it provides reliable algae suppression without chlorine, making it suitable for sensitive areas where slippery surfaces, staining or surface quality become an issue.

Algae in turf management
Algae are simple plant-like organisms that commonly develop in wet, poorly drained turf areas. They are most often found where surfaces stay damp for long periods, particularly in shaded, compacted or low-lying areas with limited airflow. Algae growth typically appears as a green, dark green or black slimy layer across the soil surface or thin turf. As conditions dry, this layer can harden into a crust that cracks, reducing surface quality and potentially affecting turf establishment and performance.
What algae problems look like
Algae often develops in wet, poorly drained or compacted areas, especially where sunlight and airflow are limited.
Common signs include:
- Green or black slimy surfaces
- Slippery pathways or concrete
- Dark crusts forming as algae dries out
