Managing weeds around drains, irrigation channels, dams and waterways needs the right product, the right timing and careful label use. Not every herbicide is suitable near water. Aquatic-approved formulations are designed for sensitive areas where spray drift, water quality and environmental compliance matter.
Notman Pasture Seeds can help farmers, contractors, councils and land managers choose suitable aquatic herbicide options for vegetation control in drains, channels, wet areas, riparian zones and non-crop situations.
Important wording: use “aquatic-approved” or “suitable for aquatic situations as per label”, not “aquatic safe” as a blanket claim. Labels and APVMA registration still control where and how each product can be used.
KEY AQUATIC WEED HERBICIDES & WHAT THEY TARGET
- Diquat 200 targets Duck Weeds, Red Azolla, Water Hyacinth, Salvinia, Marsilea, Water Lillies, Water Lettuce, Cattail and Pond Weeds.
- Amitrole 250 targets Cumbungi, Phragmites, Nutgrass, Water Couch and Water Hyacinth
- Diuron 900 targets annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds (except Nutgrass, Bindweed and Russian knapweed)
- Glyphosate Green 360: Water soluble herbicide for non-selective control of many annual and perennial weeds in certain situations.
Where these products fit
Good fit for:
- irrigation drains and channels
- dam edges
- riparian strips
- wet drains
- farm laneways near water
- council and contractor vegetation programs
- sensitive non-crop areas
Why aquatic-approved herbicides matter
Not all glyphosate, knockdown or broadleaf herbicides are suitable near waterways. Standard formulations may contain surfactants or label restrictions that make them unsuitable for aquatic situations. The correct product choice helps reduce risk while still achieving reliable vegetation control.
