Description

Paradana Balansa Clover is a mid maturing, semi erect, self regenerating annual balansa clover that is used extensively for quality hay production is areas receiving more than 400mm per annum.

Paradana is suitable for most soils (similar to soils on which subterranean clover grows well), very waterlogging tolerant and shows resistance to clover scorch and root rot.

  • Excellent spring growth
  • Suitable for most soils on which Subclover grows well
  • Prolific seeder resulting in good persistence
  • Good option to produce good quality hay

Pasture Blends
Paradana Balansa at 2-4kg/ha can be blended with companion species of italian and annual ryegrass.

Grazing management
Paradana Balansa can persist under continuous grazing, and is not well suited to rotational grazing systems. Paradana can self regenerate where sufficient moisture is available for seed set.

Rainfall
Balansa clover is adaptable to climates of 400-800mm p.a and.or under irrigation.

Pest resistance
Balansa clover is very susceptible to red legged earth mite, particularly at establishment. Lucerne flea can damage stands, mainly during the warmer months. Aphids, particularly blue green aphids, can cause damage in warmer regions where they are more active
