Kainui Cocksfoot

Kainui Cocksfoot has high tiller density, and soft ryegrass-like leaves, with very good disease resistance. It is well suited for inclusion in pasture mixes or as a specialist pasture in summer-dry areas. Latest genetics, NZ bred.

Description

A soft leaf cocksfoot from the Cropmark Seeds plant breeding programme, Kainui Cocksfoot was bred for high yields, good compatibility within pasture mixes, and strong root development for summer dry tolerance

We’ve seen Kainui Cocksfoot thrive in areas where perennial ryegrass fails to persist, holding pasture quality long into the season when traditional perennial ryegrass struggles to hang on. It is well suited for inclusion in pasture mixes or as a specialist pasture in summer-dry areas, with such mixes including perennial ryegrass, a vast array of legumes and herbs. A popular mix includes Kainui Cocksfoot, Matrix Enhanced Ryegrass, Subterranean Clover, Arrowleaf and Balansa Clover.

Kainui Cocksfoot has the following benefits:

  • Higher yields across all seasons
  • Excellent summer-dry tolerance
  • Finer, softer, more ryegrass-like leaves
  • Better compatibility within pasture mixes
